This is a MILESTONE in music history as well as music VIDEO.

Music Video Analysis

You need to choose TWO videos, from the following. All can be viewed on my youtube channel (link on the right) and are placed in a playlist for you.

Either
1. George Michael - "Outside"
or
2. Eminem - "Stan"

AND Either

3. Chemical Brothers - "Elektrobank"
or
4. Chemical Brothers - "Star Guitar"

You need to write an analysis of the music videos, for the first video choice (1 or 2), focusing on the narrative and ALL the usual media language cues (as if they were short films) MEDIA LANGUAGE (Editing, Lighting, Colour, Mise-en-scene, Camera Framing, Camera Movement, Costume, SFX etc), plus REPRESENTATION, NARRATIVE, GENRE, AUDIENCE... You must also use the notes on Music Video analysis in your red folders.

For the Chemical Brothers videos (either 3 or 4), this framework is less useful and you will need to use the analysis notes provided in your red folder more carefully.

Think about WHY these frameworks and analyses differ for these videos.

Your write up may be in note form or bullets. It can be hand written or typed. It must be legible, coherent and thoughtful. It can be emailed to Mrs Thrasher. It must not be late.

The due date is THURSDAY 10th July 08 for 12(d) and for 12(c) it is MONDAY 14th July 08.
